Our built environment is important and Facility Management plays a huge part in this. Thankfully there are plenty or resources to help Facility Managers become better at what they do. But very little resources are as fun as a good presentation by someone that has actually sometiing new to tell. We have selected three presentations that we feel are a MUST WATCH for any Facility Management professional. After all, your job is as versatile as it can be. One day you might be running around to help your tenants feel at home. The next, you're fully occupied with process optmization.
1. "Why work doesn't happen at work" | Jason Fried
Why is it that whenever you have a lot of work to do, you rather do it at home than in the office? Isn't that why we have offices in the first place? Jason Fried explains this by comparing going the office' with sleeping. Both are processes that require long period of uninterrupted time to be efficient. Not sometihing people that work in an offices have. Thankfully, he also explains how we can turn this around. So it's not only a valuable talk for Facility Managers that are looking for an optmal work environment. Also, for people that spend most of there time being unproductive at the office.
2. "Will automation take away all our jobs?" | David Autor
These days more and more tasks are automated. Even in Facility Mangement.
